ALLIGATOR BAG

Genuine alligator skin handbag from the late 50s/early 60s features a segment over 17 inches long madefrom a single alligator hide that includes the head! Artificial eyes have been attached. Closed bag measures about 12 x 8 inches, with a maximum thickness (at the head) of about 2.5 inches. Metal snap secures bag closed. Suede interior features a zippered compartment (with a working zipper) and two pockets. There are some condition issues: the carrying strap is not attached on the left side, and in that same area the skinhas a dark discoloration,a fewof the stitches havecome undone, and the skinhas pulled away from the stitching (see sixth and seventh pictures). All this damage occurs in an area that coversabout 3 squareinches, and rest of item is very goodexcept for an occasional crack or bit of fraying. Remember that this is a very old item of natural materials, and anything of this nature withoutsome damage is probably not authentic.A stunning display piece overall.
