13th IOWA INFANTRY, 1891-1906
The famous “Crocker\'s Iowa Brigade” consisted of the 11th,13th, 15th & 16th Iowa Infantries. These regiments were in the battles atShiloh and Corinth, and later were in the Battle of Atlanta, and on Sherman’s Marchto the Sea. Veterans of Crocker\'s Iowa Brigade began having biennial reunionsaround 1881.
Six(6)vintage ribbons, printed silk, measuring circa 6-8 inches, unfinished edges (asissued).
Theseare early ribbons for this noted Civil War veterans’ reunion, including:
1891,the 6th Biennial reunion, held in Des Moines.
1894,the 7th Biennial reunion, held in Ottumwa.
1898,the 9th Biennial reunion, held in Jefferson.
1900,the 10th Biennial reunion, held in Keokuk.
1906,the 13th Biennial reunion, held in Clinton.
And,an associated ribbon, for “Jefferson Public Schools Honor the Heroes of CrockerIowa Brigade.”
The6 fragile ribbons are in good condition, with early wear and soiling, and withmoderate staining to the 1891 ribbon. Two have their original pins present.Please examine the scans and photos for details.
