Each plate is made of solid brass, not plated steel.

We found the plates heavily painted, dirty, and tarnished (see last photo). Since then, we\'ve cleaned and polished them to the best of our ability.

We found some of the plates a bit bent, but we straightened them out to the best of our ability. Some plates may not be 100% straight, however, the tiny bit of crookedness will not affect their function what-so-ever.All plates are in great condition with only nicks and scratches, but no breaks, cracks, gouges, chips, or big dents.
