9\" DAUM FRANCE ART GLASS CENTERPIECE CLEAR STARFISH BOWLMichael Dunn introduced a variety of modern styles in the wake of WWII at the 1951 exhibition in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, which coincided with the revitalization of the French glass industry. This Orion bowl is from that era, ca. 1950-1960. It\'s stunning cut resembles a stylized \"Sunburst\" or a \"Sea Starfish\".Four of the twelve points of this hand blown dish curve up like stalagmites while the other eight have a more gradual taper, giving a free form feel to the moderne symmetrical design. Display this brilliant bowl and use it as a centerpiece or shallow vase.It is thick and heavy, measuring 9\" across and 3 1/2\" high. It bears an authentic acid etched Daum France Mark and the important Cross of Lorraine symbol. It is in excellent vintage condition with age appropriate wear and scratches, but no chips, cracks or repairs. The base is ground and polished, the lead crystal so clear you can read right through it.This piece has been fashioned after the Orion Constellation, one of the largest and most recognizable in the night sky, visible throughout the world.This is a truly beautiful piece of French art made by the world renowned Daum of France.
