Black, MCMVI (1906); first printing of approximately 3,000 copies.Wide Royal Octavo, 9\" x 6-1/4\"; xii + 235 pages.Bound in smooth deep blue cloth, the cover with title block in gilt at top, supported by two Corinthian columns, enclosing a design of Grecian galleys with full sails, with the Acropolis in the background; the design executed in brown, sage-green, and cream. Spine with similar designs. Top edge gilt.
With 75 full-color tissue-guarded watercolor plates by John Fulleylove; and a folding map of Greece in the rear.
SCARCE & DESIRABLE! For reasons surely beyond understanding, this title was never reprinted; according to INMAN\'s great reference, 1,700 copies of the original 3,000 were remaindered...!

CONDITION is Very Near Fine: Binding is firm, text is clean with NO toning. All plates are brilliant, all tissue guards intact. NO sign of a former owner; endpapers are clean with NO splits. Covers are VERY clean, with NO nits, scratches or scuffs. All 4 tips are still sharp, but the upper front tip shows a bump. Gilt is still bright! The spine is all there with NO losses ~ just normal \"crimping\" to the cloth at the extremes. No splits, NO rubbing at the corners, NO sunning, gilt still brilliant!!
A VERY LOVELY COPY, from my personal collection; this book has been behind glass for at least 35 years! If not for the bumped tip I\'d rate this book a full FINE on condition...
