THIS IS A LOVELY ANTIQUE OCTAGONAL SHAPED LOCKET OF A NEAT POPULAR SIZE, AN ‘EYE CATCHING’ ITEM OF ANTIQUE JEWELLERY (See 5 Pence in inset picture for comparisons).
The front of this locket has a gem set \'floral spray\', the flower heads are set with facet cut gemstones, a small ruby,a sapphire and 5 paste stones.The locket has sloping away edges and a pretty scroll work top, there\'s a gold top holding ring with an inner diameter of 4 mm. The reverse is plain surfaced throughout, at the base are the gold markings 9CT BACK AND FRONT.
(9ct Back & Front is a locket category where the front and back panels are of solid 9ct gold, and check tested here, the internal frame and picture retaining rims are not gold. This method of construction was used primarily to achieve greater strength and durability of the locket).
Yes, this locket is in superb condition, no dints, indents, bumps or scratches, indeed no blemishes at all, with lovely polished surfaces throughout. Gem stones appear securely set and without blemishes of note.
