Description

A VERY NICE LATE 19TH CENTURY LIFT TOP DESK OR DOCUMENT BOX RETAINING ITS ORIGINAL VIBRANT RED PAINT, BRASS LATCH AND HINGES. New England, Circa 1870-1880 in Poplar and pine.

ALL ORIGINAL RED PAINTED SURFACE.
THE PAINT IS BRIGHT AND VIBRANT BUT HAS A NICE OLD PATINA.

IT RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL BRASS LATCH ON THE FRONT AND BRASS HINGES.

THE SURFACE IS ALL ORIGINAL WITH THE TYPICAL LOSSES, STAINS AND NICKS.
The interior has an original amber shellac finish and color and still retains its original lift out cubby compartment.

The condition is remarkable. There is some very minor surface losses and the usual wear and tear you would expect.

16 1/2\" wide, 10\" deep and 5 1/2\" high.

Typical wear associated with the age of the item. Minor loss to the rear bottom on the back, (see photos).
