Made from carved Stag Antler. This wonderful fine Netsuke displays a masterful carving style that unquestionably dates it to19th Century Meiji It was carved when fine quality works were produced in substantial quantities
This is the work of a supremely accomplished master artist. Beautiful carved with a fine attention to detail.
The intricate relationship of lines finely carved expertly articulates such features as the wonderfully fluid body reposed delicately in the tub , the long leg poised on the side the hair flowing to create a natural himotashi.
Underneath the bath tub has been cut away to reveal the reason for the beautiful serene expression.
A superb and unusual piece.
