A fine hand constructed, unmarked, high-grade silver* box.
Of hand raised rectangular form - the base resting on a plain foot. Both end faces are curving in profile - the two longer faces vertical in form. A recessed lip at the base opening locates the hinged cover in the closed position, creating a flush appearance on closure.
The cover face and four side / end faces are embellished with stunning figurative decoration, chased and embossed in extremely high relief. The decoration depicts episodes from the Jatakas tales, or previous lives of the Buddha- familiar to the Bamar/Burman people.
Size: Overall length - 6 1/8" (155mm), maximum height - 5 1/2" (140mm), depth - 2 3/4" (70mm).
Silver weight - 15.15oz Troy, (471.0g).
