Minangkabau People, {Sumatra}, Indonesia-dating from thelate 19th century / beginning of the 20th century.Cast using the lost wax process, a canister form brass Tobacco jar / box.
The press mounting cover is of convex form - locating to the base opening by a recessed collet, tightly closing to a flush appearance.
Decorative panels and bands are embellished with cast flowers and foliate scroll-work - stylised birds are incorporated within alternating vertical rectangular panels, (image 5).
Overall height - 6 3/16\" (157mm), max diameter - 3 1/2\" (89mm).
Weight - 639 grams

Condition - Very Good. No dents, no cracks and no repairs. Natural colour and patina.
