Constructed from sections of dense native hard-wood timber, rectangular in form and resting on four supports.
A shallow footed frame supports four scrolling corner elements - a shaped frieze spans the four sides between the corner supports. Recessed rectangular panels rise to the platform at the upper most extreme.
The rectangular platform is finished with a carved greek keymotif to the four edges and also the top face. The frieze and panelling above is carved with floral designs - the pale red lac finish to the entire upper surface gives the impression of cinnabar lacquer.
Images 11 & 12, detail the underside - the timber is finished with a dark brown lacquer.
Overall length - 11 1/2\" (292mm), height - 5 3/4\" (146mm), depth - 9 1/8\" (232mm).
Weight - 774 grams.Condition - Very Good. Minor surface marks, consistent with age and usage. No restoration. Fine natural colour and patina.
