For Sale is a very rare Special Edition 1st Edition/1st Printing of \"A Game of Thrones\" by George R.R. Martin which also has the error of a mistitled front slipcase.The front slipcase cover reads \"Book One of a Song of Fire and Ice\" --- instead of the correct title \"Book One of a Song of Ice and Fire\"
I have personally emailed with the creator of the artwork for \"A Game of Thrones\" and was informed that this Special 1st Edition book was produced by the marketing department to advertise in advance of the upcoming paperback.This version is listed as extremely scarce and it is unlikely that many survived with any portion of the slipcover or belly band intact.
The slipcase for this 1st edition announced the new artwork and the paperback release with the text under the authors name: \"A Bantam September 1997 Mass Market Paperback Release\". There are 4 pieces of tape that are holding down the corners of this slipcase which is affixed independently of the tape to the font cover. The vertical borders of this slipcover are even and the horizontal borders are of a slightly uneven cut.
Details: \"New York: A Bantam Spectra Book c.1996. Specialfirst edition issued with an open ended slipcase.\" This is a True 1st Edition with all numbers included on attached page denoting a True 1st Edition Game of Thrones \"A Song of Ice and Fire\".
Number ending in 1 denotes a 1st Edition - 10987654321.The front hardcover of this edition measures 9.5 x slightly under 6 3/8
