FRESH FROM AN OLD COLLECTION OF GREAT EARLY PENNSYLVANIA FURNITURE.

AN EXTREMELY FINE AND RARE PENNSYLVANIA 18TH CENTURY QUEEN ANNE TILT TOP BIRDCAGE CANDLE STAND, Rural Philadelphia, Circa 1760-1780 with A TWO BOARD ROUND AND RIMMED TOP, A GREAT TURNED SHAFT AND THE BEST HAND CARVED LEGS AND QUEEN ANNE PAD FEET ALL IN MAHOGANY IN ITS ORIGINAL DARK STAINED SURFACE.
THIS GREAT STAND IS ALSO A BIRDCAGE REVOLVING MODEL WITH A FULLY COMPLETE AND INTACT TURNED BALUSTER CAGE.

A FANTASTIC EXAMPLE OF A RURAL PHILADELPHIA QUEEN ANNE CANDLESTAND.

The shaft has the best BALL TURNED shape. The high cut and arched Cabriole Legs are Dovetailed into the shaft. THE TOP IS A THIN CUT AND RIMMED MAHOGANY TWO BOARD TOP WITH ALL ITS TUNING MARKS STILL INTACT.

THE CARVED SHAFT IS EXTREMELY WELL DONE AND WAS CERTAINLY CARVED BY AN ACCOMPLISHED CABINETMAKER OF THE PERIOD.

THE LEGS AND FEET ARE HAND CARVED AND THE QUALITY IS EXCEPTIONAL. IT HAS VERY RARE SHAPED QUEEN ANNE PAD FEET.

THE BIRD CAGE REVOLVING SUPPORT HAS THE TYPICAL DORIC COLUMNS OF THE AREA AND IS FULLY INTACT.

The turned baluster birdcage revolving feature is fully intact and all complete. The feature lets you revolve the top like a lazy susan to help you serve the tea.
The original cleats are intact.

The surface is the original dark stain throughout WITH THE BEST GRUNGY PATINA.

The condition is wonderful. All the components are original and complete. The only losses are an old 19th century repair to one leg, and the addition of some later screws added to the back of the birdcage block to secure an old break.

The TWO Board Top measures about 19 1/2 by 21\" with great shrinkage and it has NO shrinkage lines.

It stands 29 1/2\" tall and 40 1/2\" when lifted up.
