this is quite possibly the most spectacular circa 1875-early 1900\'s meiji era japanese carved plinth or stand offered on in some time. thestand is of aesthetic design with symbols, flowers, leaves, and vines.

the stand, of bulbous form, retainsalmost allof its original chocolate finish.
the structure is solid and well preserved.dimensions are 10\"t x 14\"w; the mouth, where a pot or figure could rest is 8\"w.
i want to be thorough in my assessment of condition...i would estimate that it is in very fine condition for the age with only light signs of wear and use. some patina wear is noted only at rim of mouth.
