A Late 18th Early/19th Century Inlaid Faux Tortoise Shell Snuff Box c1780/1820:

This unusual antique snuff box i think dates from between 1780 and 1820 , the snuff box is made of faux tortoiseshell with inlaid brass and copper designs on the lid and sides and has loads of patina with age as seen in the photos, i am not certain of the origins of the snuff box but possibly Asian or Oriental perhaps, the snuff box measures 3.25 inches diameter, there is a crack to lid and base as shown and a small chip to the inner rim that does not show when the two halves of the box are together , there is also a couple of small pieces of inlay lifted on the lid that could be glued down, there is also general wear and tear with age, despite its ailments an interesting early snuff box
