This is a Magnificent Stuart Crystal Memento Mori Skull Slide Circa 1600’s.
The Slide consists of and oval crystal that measures 15mm by 13mm and is set in a rub over high karat gold setting.
Under the crystal is set a lock of hair upon which are a set of gold wire (M S) Initials and a Skull & Cross bones.
The reverse of the slide there are two gold bars through which a piece of ribbon would be threaded so that the slide could be worn.
The dimensions of the slide are 18mm by 14mm.
The Slide test as high karat gold (20ct) and weighs in total 2g.
The slide is in very good condition considering its age, and is a fine example of a Memento Mori Stuart Crystal slide.
