A Neo-Gothic Mantle Garniture, 3 Pieces, England, circa 1860The clock is designed in form of a gothic church from alabaster. The whole body - such as the vases – show fine paintings in blue and gold in form of leafs, volutes, angels, flowers and arabesques. The vases stand on square plinths and have a high stand with a circular foot, adorned with pinnacles. The cylindrical bodies are fitted with pointed arches, pinnacles and handles in form of acanthus leafs.Alabaster, cut and painted in blue and gold; various metals, parcel-gilt England, circa 1860Three piece neo-gothic mantle set, comprising a clock in the form of a gothic church, as well as two side vases Brass count wheel movement, manual wind movement, presumably 8 days duration, half hour strike on bell Gilt bezel and openwork dial with Roman indices Original pendulum
Condition: The pieces shows minor abrasions, small losses of material and restorations. The handle of one vase has broken off; the broken part will be delivered. The clock movement has been renewed. The back cover and the winding key are missing. During a short-term test, the clock was running, but long-term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed.
