This is a rather charming Georgian Scottish silver Luckenbooth Brooch, dating tothe late 18th - early 19th century. The brooch depicts a crownedheart, retains the original pin and is in good wearablecondition. Being a small provincial piece, it doesn\'t bear anymarks but is guaranteed to be solid silver.

The luckenbooth brooch is a traditional Scottish lovetoken: often given as a betrothal or wedding brooch. It might beworn by a nursing mother as a charm to help her milk flow, and/orbe pinned to a baby\'s clothing to protect it from harm. It wasknown as a witch-brooch by people using it to save children fromthe evil eye. It is a classic piece of historic jewellery, inexcellent condition.
