THIS LARGE VICTORIAN ANTIQUE SILVER LOCKET HAS A VERY PRETTY \'CLASSIC EMBOSSED BUCKLE\' DESIGN. A LOCKET OF LARGE PREPORTIONS, A REAL EYECATCHING ITEM OF ANTIQUE JEWELLERY (See 5 pence and US Five Cents in inset picture for size comparisons).
This large oval locket has an unusual buckle and belt design to the top section. This is engraved with various leaf patternings, the lower section of the locket also has leaf engraving throughout. (Buckle and Belt design represents the concept of a safe and secure friendship and a place for treasured picture / portraits too!). The locket has \'moustache\' style top to hold the articulating blown \'saddle\' bail, this has an inner aperture of 4.6 mm. The reverse of this rounded edged locket is totally plain surfaced apart for full hallmarks for Bimingham 1880 and maker\'s mark \'B.L.\'
Anchor logo for Birmingham assay office, lion passsant for sterling silver and low case fancy italic \'f\' for 1880. Maker\'s Mark is \'B.L.\'
Yes, this locket is in excellent condition throughout, no dints, indents, bumps or scratches, indeed no blemishes at all. A REAL BONUS in a locket of this age! Lovely polished surface throughout, including plain surfaced reverse side!.
