A very interesting violin labelled Antonio Dartini Genuae 1781.

Very interesting antique violin labelled Antonio Dartini Genuae 1781. The top is made of two parts of spruce, and shows irregular and straight grain lines. The back is made of two pieces of faintly flamed maple. The purfling is precisely made and ends with bee stings on front and back. The varnish is of an amber-orange color. The head, original, is extremely elegant and shows pegs bushings.

The violin is in a restored condition, with several repairs on top and a repair at the button. The instrument has been set up with a rosewood tailpiece with bone fret, the matching chinrest, a Despiau bridge and Thomastik Dominant strings. The ebony pegs are older but fit nicely.

On the inside n-back can be found an old label of \"Antonio Dartini, Genuae 1781\". We believe the violin to be french early 19th century (1800/1820).

The violin has a mature and warm sound, with a good projection and power, and some baroque accents : a very interesting concert violin that will allow you the most complete repertory (including baroque).

Dimensions are the following :

LOB : 358 mm.

Upper bouts : 162 mm.

Middle bouts : 108 mm.

Lower bouts : 202 mm.

The instrument comes with a new rectangular case. Insured shipping to EU $50 and US $75.
