A Very Fine/Rare Korean Blue and White Big Bowl with Characters-19thC.:

Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century.

The beautiful clear white glazed deep bowl on shortring foot with slightly everted rim,

decorated in underglaze with a charavter “SHOU” in the interior well,

the rim with two ring circles, the exterior decoratedwith three characters,

applied overall with a blue tinged translucent whiteglaze.

It’s inexcellent condition without any damages at all.

Itmeasures 24cm x 10.5cm h. (9.5” x 4 1/8” h.).


***Provenance: Property fromthe Estate of Dr. Kaj Kalbak: In 1958, Dr. Kaj Kalbakwent to Seoul Korea to establish the first Korean microbiology laboratory.While engrossed in his work, he discovered a love for Korean ceramics and theKorean culture that defined the rest of his life. With technical precision hevisited all of the kilns, burial sites, museums and collectors that he couldfind in Korea. Dr. Kalbak went on to form an encyclopedic collection of Koreanceramics. He was awarded medals from the Korean government as well as from hisown country, Denmark. Some of the most noteworthy pieces of Dr. Kalbak\'scollection are to be found in the National Museums in Copenhagen and Stockholm
