A Very Rare pair of Coral Red Chinese 19th C of Monk & Scholar Vases with Plate.
A very scarce pair of vases accompanied by a plate. Made in the second half of the 19th century in China.The scene are scholars with scrolls with caligraphy and natural paintings on the belly of the vases, the neck is decorated with cartouches with birds and flowers. All colours are coral red and highlighted with gilded accents.This type of decoration is very rare and often on the market. The vases are made in the same firing process, the plate is not, but makes it together a very nice ensamble.
Condition: Excellent on one vase and the plate, the other vase has a chip on the rim and the tail of the foo dog or lion has broken off. On some points the coral red is flued (se photo\'s)
