A nicely proportioned Victorian mahogany miniature chest of three graduated drawers on a shaped apron.
This was either made by an apprentice in order to exhibit his acquired skills or it was used by a tradesman as a display model. I rather think it to be the latter as it is so well made, although I have seen some pretty impressive miniature apprentice made furniture. All the drawers have hand-made dove-tail joints to the front, and unusually, also to the back. Another nice detail is the beaded edge around each drawer front. The corners have been nicely rounded and this detail has been replicated to the corners of the apron and the top. The whole chest of drawers has a nice symmetry to it, the proportions being very much in scale with its larger counterpart. Even the turned wooden knobs are in keeping.
It is in overall excellent condition. It has been cleaned, re-waxed and the rich colour of the mahogany really shows through.Measurements: 45 cm wide, 27 cm deep and 37.5 cm high.
Aftercare:

Cleanedand restored to a high standard. All you need to do is wipe over witha soft cloth from time to time, in order to remove any dust. You canoccasionally use a spray furniture polish that contains bees wax,which will maintain its satin sheen. On no account use a siliconespray as this could be detrimental to the waxedsurface.
