A Vintage Japanese Lacquer Pomander, Polychrome & Gilt Decoration.:

Japanese -dating from the first half of the 20th century.
Of baluster form, turned from native hardwood. The pierced cover neatly press mounts to the collet form opening to the vessel.
The surface is finished with a deep red ground to the exterior - brush painted polychrome decoration depicts cranes in flight, Mount Fuji and small sailing boats.
The interior and base surfaces are base are finished in black lacquer.Overall height - 3 1/8\" (79mm).
Weight - 112 grams

Condition - Very Good. Very minor rubbing and surface marks, (consistent with age). No repairs. Natural colour and patina.
