A WINDOW IN THRUMS J M BARRIE 1894 HENRY ALTEMUS SMALL ANTIQUE 1800\'S OLD NOVEL

Up for your consideration is this nice antique book entitled \"A Window in Thrums\" written by J.M. Barrie and copyrighted in 1894. If more pictures are needed just email what you want to see. There seems to be some confusion as to the actual publication date of this book.

    • FEATURES:

I feel that this particular book is most likely a first edition for the following reasons:

      - Green cloth covered hardboard covers. From searching the internet at various places like , Google and Biblio.com, I have not found a cover exactly like the one in my picture above. This cover has silver scroll work around all four borders of the front cover.

      - Copyrighted 1894 (imprinted on the third page - the first two pages are blank). Also from searching the internet, I have found that there are various publishing dates, but this particular book was copyrighted in 1894 (some show 1896 and other dates not as old as this one).

      - Published by Henry Altemus (Philadelphia). Of course there have been other publishers, but I believe this was Mr. Barrie\'s first publisher (1894).

      - 285 pages. I have also found other copies of this book with varying number of pages, some with only 168 pages. This leads me to believe this possible first 285 page edition was later edited and shortened for subsequent editions over the years.

      - The binding is still very tight. Some of the other books I\'ve found have been listed as \"Shaken\" or \"Slightly Shaken\" which means the binding is not tight like when the book was new.

      - The book is not Shelf-cocked, meaning the covers and pages align with each other when the book is laid flat and are not slanted from leaning to one side or the other on a book shelf.

      - Other books I\'ve seen on the internet state that they are illustrated by Johnson, Clifton. This book has no illustrations which again leads me to believe it could be a first edition and the expense of illustrating it was foregone in the beginning in order to see how well it would sell before illustrating it.

You really like the thing, but not so much the price...

I find cool stuff, do some research and list it for what I think it\'s worth. Sounds pretty simple but sometimes not. So if this is something you really like but its a bit more than you had hoped to pay, then be sure to watch this because I can\'t send it to the bank, and if it ends without a buyer chances are real good I will drop the price and re-list it until it does sell! Two things for sure - it will get sold sooner rather than later, and that\'s better for both of us.

    International Buyers

Our zip code is 60041 We will ship to most locations around the world using Priority Mail, insurance and delivery confirmation included. Unfortunately I can not ship using first class international because there is no delivery confirmation or insurance available, and rules require both. \"Import Duties\", \"Tariffs\" and \"Taxes\" are NOT included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are imposed and collected by your country and are your responsibility. Please check with your country\'s customs office to determine what these additional costs (if any) will be prior to offerding/buying. These charges are normally collected by your customs office when you pick the item up or upon delivery – please do not confuse them with shipping charges, they are not. I can NOT declare the value on the \"Customs Forms\" lower than it sold for or mark items as \"gifts\".

I take a great deal of pride in my response rating and never want you surprised by anything you get from me. PLEASE If there is ever an issue, all I ask is that you give me an opportunity to address it BEFORE leaving response.
