A good brass mounted microscope by J. Swift & Son, London - early 1900s, triple turret with 3 brass Swift lenses - 2/3 inch, 1/6 inch and oil-immersion 1/12 inch, 2 eyepieces (x6 and x10), substage condenser with working iris, good mirror (double sided, flat and concave), rack and pinion focussing is good as is the fine focus, good stage and clips. The instrument is generally in good, original condition, a little rubbing to the brass in one or two places as would be expected but nothing horrid, the black enamel Crouch type base is in good order. The objective lens cases are Swift bakelite type and one of them has some damage around the screw section, otherwise they are all good and correctly engraved. The instrument and case have the engraving \'W.R.S. Roberts\'. Comes in it\'s original mahogany fitted case with heavy brass handle on top, the case is in good order, there is a lock but no key - brass catches have been added to keep the door closed when necessary.

A lovely and complete instrument that would be a fantastic display or usable item.
