Thebiggest complaint that I hear from my friends and family is howshipping is so much for some items on . The first thing that Iremind them of is that shipping also includes handling. Theconvenience of buying a hard to find item here on should betaken into consideration when you consider the price and the shippingof an item. Gone are the days that you will purchase a brand new itemfor dollars less then it costs in stores. It is not cost effectivefor a seller to stay in business by offering an item for less then itcosts to buy.
Whena buyer considered shipping, they should look at what other sellersare offering, what are they listing their items. Buyers should alsoconsider what else isinvolved in shipping a product. If youhave decided to purchase an item and it is offered by many sellersyou need to consider the price of the item and the shipping as awhole. I find it funny that a person will complain about purchasingan item for 1 cent and pay $6.99 for shipping, but will applaud whenpurchasing an similar item for $5.00 and pay $3.00 in shipping. Makesure as a buyer that you are aware of the shipping charge and if youfind that it is too high then do not purchase the item.
Donot email the seller and ask for a special shipping charge becauseyou purchased multiple items. If the seller was going to offer adiscount for purchasing multiple items, they would state it in thesale. I just find it curious that some sellers will offer combinedshipping and start out their shipping at $7.99 and each additionalitem at 4.99 and buyers will purchase because they are gettingcombined shipping. However, a buyer looking to purchase a similargroup of items will complain that they are paying $3.99 from anotherseller for each sale. When you buy something online at anotherstore, let say Target, does your shipping decrease with the number ofitems that you purchase? There are usually shipping deals on otherwebsites but they involve a certain minimum amount of purchase or aexpensive subscription. Again, if you feel the price of the itemandshipping charge,when added together, is too much, don\'t buy.
Shippingshould be considered shipping and handling. There is not a seller outthere that does not have to travel to find the item that they areselling. A seller must take time to properly package your item. Aseller must assure that it get sent in a timely manner and a sellermust purchase the mailing materials. When I first started selling on, I typically charged the exact shipping and absorbed the priceof the mailing materials, gasoline to the store and post office, andthe time invested in finding and mailing your item. Let\'s say that Idid do well with my sales.
Lastbut not least, I have noticed that over the last nine years thatresponse has become a tool of terror for most sellers. responseshould be used to alert other buyers of good and bad sellers. Manysellers fail to leave response till after the buyer has leftresponse. This way they have some type of retaliation, in cases ofwhere a buyer leaves negative response. I believe that a sellershould leave prompt response if the buyer has paid for the product ina timely manner or has contacted the seller explaining when paymenthas been sent. I have held to this practice but I can see why somesellers do not. Recently I have received response from buyers thatstate the speed of the delivery was super fast but are disappointedthat the shipping charge does not match that on the envelope. I havenever had a person state in their response that they paid less forshipping that was actually paid. Which has happened on someoccasions. I have considered offering the exact shipping charge butthat would involve a lot more headache and time on my end, which Iagain would not be reimbursed.
Thisis now starting to sound like a rant, so I will end with this advice.Make sure to look at the item price and the shipping charge andcompare it too other items that are being offered. If you see thatone seller is offering the item for less, buy it from them. Do notrequest for combined shipping if it is not offered. Leave responsefor sellers who are honest and upfront and do not complain about anitem that you did not fully research. Thanks for your interest !
