Wonderful Vintage Piece!

ITEM:Vintager Crown Trifari Alfred Philippe Rhinestone & Faux Blue Moonstone \"Fantasies\" Bird Pin or Brooch ~ Patent Dated 1941 (see last picture)

SIZE: Pin Measures: 2 & 1/8\" in height x 2 & 3/4\" in width (wing to wing)
ITEM DETAILS: This sale features a vintage crown Trifari bird pin or brooch. This pin is particularly special as it was designed by one of Trifari\'s premiere designer\'s: Alfred Phillipe. The pin is a gold-tone metal and is shaped into the image of a bird -- I believe a swallow. The bird is semi-abstract, which gives it even more of an artsy feel to it (which I have always personally loved). The middle of the piece bears a faux, light blue moonstone. The area around this is surrounded with small, clear rhinestones which are all inset around the moonstone piece. These sparkle beautifully in the light, and add an overall brightness around the moonstone itself. The head of the bird also has a few of these rhinestones on the top, and also bears a single, red cabochon faux ruby for the eye. The back bears a safety clasp pin closure and it is marked with \"TRIFARI\" with a copyright symbol to the right, and a crown image on top of the \"T.\" The actual pin piece opens to a 45 degree angle but -- like many pieces from the era -- I do believe it was made this way on purpose. I have included a picture of the patent for this pin that I found -- submitted by Alfred Philippe in March, 1941. I have also found references to this pin as part of a series called, \"Fantasies,\" as well. That said, I am not entirely sure what the series was about, or how many jewelry pieces may have been included. Please feel free to email me if you have further information -- I always love to learn new information! :) All in all, this is a lovely pin and would make a wonderful addition to any costume jewelry collection. My grandmother -- who had a particular fondness for both Trifari items AND \"jelly belly\" pieces -- would have been so happy to see this pin. Although she passed away in 2006, I will always credit her with my love of old jewelry. Although this pin never belonged to her personally, I do seem to have a knack for finding things that she would have liked. Anyway, please feel free to email me any questions you might have. Thank you and -- as this is a \"\" sale -- the highest buyer at the end will win. My best to one and all!

CONDITION: Fair~ I am considering the age and use of this item when factoring the condition rating. As this pin is now likely 60+ years old, I would say it rates in Fair condition for the age and use of it. Considering the overall age, the biggest issue appears to be some minor use and age wear seen. I did note some minor wear to the gold-tone on this pin, but I do feel that -- all in all -- this is to be expected. This is certainly not bad enough to keep the pin from being worn, either. I did check all of the clear rhinestones under my loupe: although a few appear to be just a tad darker than others (possibly from soiling or metal wear underneath) there are no rhinestones that are missing. The faux moonstone also appears to be doing ok with no major issues to report. As noted in the description above, the actual pin piece does only open to a 45 degree angle. It has been my experience in selling vintage pins for well over a decade that they were, in fact, made this way in certain cases. It is, however, somewhat stiff at the hinge or swivel piece closure. I suspect that simple use will likely ease this somewhat, but I did want to note it for accuracy, too. Finally, there is some soiling seen on the pin, as well. Again, this is relatively minor, but some areas can be seen a little more than others. I suspect a gentle cleaning will rectify this, but will leave any cleaning to the new owner\'s discretion. All in all, I really feel this is a great little pin. Aside from what is mentioned above, I do not see any major issues with this pin. It does appear to have been loved and worn in the past, but does appear to have plenty more years of life left in it. With age and use considered, I would still say this pin rates in Fair condition overall.
AGE/ DATE MADE:Although exact age is unknown, I do believe this pin is vintage. The patent date noted is 1941, but I am unsure when actual production took place and/or when it would have ended either. An educated guess is this pin is likely from the 1940s - 1950s.

Special note on fine metals: Silver & Gold prices can fluctuate wildly from day to day, week to week, and even minute to minute. With that said, I have become very wary of is people purchasing fine metals from me and then turning around and claiming that, a) either the gold or silver price has changed or, b) my scale is off by 0.1 of a gram, and I should therefore refund that tenth of a gram (in money) back into the respective Paypal account. I have purchased a brand new digital scale and will no longer refund for tenth of a gram difference OR for gold / silver prices changes on the stock market. If I have made a large error in weight I will -- of COURSE -- continue to honor my very lenient full return policy, but will no longer refund for either market price changes OR tenth of a gram weight variations from scale to scale. If you would like a full return, simply return the exact item(s) back, and I will refund your entire purchase price. I will no longer refund partial payments, though. Please keep this in mind while offerding and, more importantly, I am very sorry for even having to post this due to the few problems I\'ve had. With that said, please feel free email if you should have any questions and thank you very much for IMPORTANT INFORMATION: PLEASE READ! ~ GENERAL ~*** I do my very best to accurately describe the items I sell her on ; listing their imperfections as much as their attributes. I always note flaws so there are no surprises when an item is received. The items I offer are nearly always used, though, and therefore are not in, \"mint\" condition. In fact, I never use the word mint to describe an item. With that said, please do not misunderstand by my very low opening offers. They almost never truly reflect the actual value of any item. In fact, they are priced in such a way because I like to keep with the fun and excitement of an actual sale. ~ PAYMENT & SHIPPING ~*** I kindly ask that payment for purchase(s) be made within 5 days of the close of the sale. Occasionally, I will offer a \"Buy It Now\" option: in those cases, payment is due as soon as the \"Purchase Now\" button is chosen. An automatic NPB (Non-Paying buyer) notification will be sent after the 5th day if payment is not received. Paypal is currently the only form of payment I accept. I am more than happy to combine shipping on items, please just contact me prior to the sale\'s end. I can then send a combined invoice which will save you some money and me some time! :) Where shipping is concerned, I do my very best to ship items within 1 business day after payment is received. ~ PURCHASES & RETURNS ~*** I strive to make your buying experience with me as excellent as I can. With that said, please contact me if you are unhappy! I will do everything possible to correct the problem! On nearly all of my items, if you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you are welcome to return it for a full refund within two weeks (14 days) from the day it was received. Return shipping will be paid by the buyer, though. In certain cases, I may sell an item for a close friend of family member that does not belong to me. Those are usually the only instances that I do not allow returns. I figure, if the item does not belong to me, I should allow that decision to be made by the person who does own it. ~ SORRY, I NO LONGER SHIP INTERNATIONALLY! ~ *** THANKS SO MUCH FOR VISITING MY sale! PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER other items! I WOULD ALSO LOVE IT IF YOU ADDED ME TO YOUR favorites list, TOO! THANK YOU & HAVE A GREAT WEEK! :) ***
