This sterling silvernecklace that was hand wrought in Taxco, Mexico, circa 1940's, by silver maestro, ALFREDO VILLASANA. Alfredo Villasana began his illustrious silver career by working with Maestro William Spratling at Taller de Las Delicias. He later worked with Maestro Hector Aguilar at Taller Borda before opening his own shop. Villasana was known to produce elegant and timeless designs that were superbly crafted! Thismagnificent necklaceis masterfully crafted in an artistic and sculptural organic motif. The necklace consists of sterling silver links that have stylized floral and foliate designs ~ a really feminine motif! The links are connected with soldered silver jump rings and the necklace lays gracefully and beautifully when worn. The clasp is a simple hook closure that is seen on much of the early Mexican jewelry. The silver has acquired awonderful softpatina that reflects the shadows created by the depth of the designs. This magnificent necklace is well made in a classic, sophisticated design by ALFREDO VILLASANA ~it would be a grand asset to any Taxco silver collection ~ it is collector and heirloom quality, quite simply, THE BEST!!!

PLEASE NOTE: For Mexican jewelry artists and designers, silver is their canvas. In their hands, craft meets creativity and silver becomes wearable art. The various techniques are like a painter’s brushstrokes ~ they make each piece unique and a timeless object of beauty. Mexican vintage silver jewelry is handwrought, and therefore, not perfect ~ each piece will have variances that indicate that the piece is hand made. Vintage pieces will show various signs of wear since they have been pre-loved ~ items are described to the best of my ability and any damage will be noted.
