I have gathered them over the last 2 years from deceased estate sales all around the country. Most of the American figural napkin rings were made c1860-1899, and I believe a lot of them found there way to Australia in the gold-rush period in Australia in the 1870/1890\'s.I havelisted them nowas they have accumulated over the last 2 years while I have been engaged in a big supreme court action.

This is a sensational and extremely rare antiqueAmerican figural napkin ringc1880 which has a boyteasing a dog to jump through a hoop he is holding in his hand. Theystand on a rectangular decorated base with detailed and raised edging.The boy and dog appear to be under some sort of bridge which holds thefigural napkin ring up. The napkin holder also has wire as ribbon tyingup the sides/edges of the ring. There is room on this figural napkin ring for your personal salt and pepper and toothpicks maybe even in an extra holder.This is a huge figural napkin ring. See last photo for comparison tothe cat reading the music sheet figural napkin ring, which is fairnessis perhaps a bit smaller than most others. There are a few otherfigural napkin rings that have such a huge size as presence, such asthe large dog holding up the ring (for sale), the triton napkin ring(which will be listed for sale soon) and the eagle knife rest figuralnapkin ring. It is marked as made by Pairpoint Mfg Co with theproduction/pattern/patent number 214. It is not shown in the book by Gottschalk and Whitson because it is so rare. It does appearin a few places on the Internet, in one case complete and in anotherwith the boy and/or dog missing.This figural napkin ring is in excellent condition. Ihave not polished, or even washed it. It just arrived like this. Thereis decernable damage, no silverplate loss, no repairs and there is nopitting. It is hard to find such an exteremly rare figural napkin ringlike this at all, yet in such greatcondition. It does not have much tarnish so might present better ifcleaned. I will leave that up to the buyer. The hoop is copper-ish butmay have been made like this in other figural napkin rings, such as theprancing horse where the rails are brass-ish.
