AMERICAN CHARACTER 11 1/2\" TINY TEARS HP HEAD W/VINYL BODY 1959-61 VGUC:
$50.00

Tiny Tears, a doll that not only drank and wet, but also cried real tears, was first sold in 1950. A major selling point was that she could be submerged in water since she had a rubber/vinyl body and an unbreakable plastic head. She could cry \"real tears\", drink a bottle and \"wet a diaper\". With these features that mimicked a real baby, she became an instant success. Millions were sold during the decade she was produced. Jacob Brock, founder of American Character was granted patent #2229439 on January 21, 1941 for the feature of \"crying real tears\". This is the patent number that appears on the back of Tiny Tears. This style of Tiny Tears was produced from 1959-61. (Info obtained from \"American Character Dolls\" by Judith Izen).
