AN ATTRACTIVE 19th CENTURY VICTORIAN WALNUT DOMED TOP TEA CADDY
Offered for sale is this fine quality attractive 19th century Victorian two compartment walnut veneered domed top tea caddy, having an attractive tapered shape to all the sides and geometric inlayed banding in a variety ofdifferentwood species to the front and lid (see photo 1 & 6). The external finish has a super original patina and a brass key holeescutcheon. Internally there are for black and green tea with the lining present. Please take time to study all the photographs in order to gain an appreciation ofthis lovely antique box.
I believe that thistea caddy is alloriginal including, brass stop hinges and lock which has a key provided.
Conditioncommensuratewith age and use, but having no major damage, lose or missing veneer; there has been three minor small veneer repairs at the rear of the lid edge, one to the left of the lefthand hinge, one to the left and right of the righthand hinge, see photos 8 & 12. Also the a couple of veneer damage at the corners of the internal lids, see photo 11.The shoot locking catches in the lock move freely if the box is tipped to the left or rightwhichsuggests that the spring guide has broken inside the lock, but the lockstillworks with the key.Please see photographs for overallcondition.
