AN IMPORTANT SCARECROW OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING BY INDIANA\'S LISTED ARTIST BRYAN TARLTON TOMMY JONES COLLECTION From an Indy collector comes many fine items I will be listing in the near future. The old boy is like 90 years old and is moving to Florida with his partner to get more sun. I went to his garage sale to help him out. He had been collecting for 50 years or more and was ready to unload. He and his male friend of 60 years are ready to hit the good life of retirement and settle in at the nude beaches (he claims). He had some neat stuff and I will be listing some of it. (smalls, artwork, rugs, clocks, furniture and sculptures) Help yourself and enjoy these treasures for your own home!
#10. Bryan Tarlton Oil on Canvas Born Franklin, Indiana ((1899-1962) Prolific artist of the Brown County Venue. Size Framed: 28.5 x 38.5. Sight: 24 x 34. A very rare image for this artist, titled \" Harvest Time\" verso. Not only an extra large canvas, but this one illustrates a scarecrow among the haystacks with birds in flight. This was a special piece at the time and would have garnered a good some even in the day. Shows an overall clean surface with 3 patches (seen verso) and stabilized craquelure throughout. Signed and dated 1951 in the lower right. The original frame is in good condition with minor wear. Ready to hang. I would not do another thing to this fine painting. This may be the best painting Tarlton ever executed in his Indiana career and is worthy of a good look. Tommy paid a very good sum for this oil about 30 years ago from the Hoosier Salon sale.
