Globular Vase with Silver Rim
in a beautiful dark purple plum color with a gorgeous large peony in cream - light purple cloisonné decoration - just gorgeous !
Marked on the base in ANDO 4 petal round Akasuke mon or \'Maltese Cross\'
as well as incised in the Japanese Characters \'An - do - Zo\' mark on a base silver rim, pic.5.
Dated most likely backto the early 1900\'s...
Measurements (approximately):
7 1/2\" tall x 6 1/2\" across the widest portion
3 7/8\" across the opening
4 1/2\" across the base
We receive thisvase from the famous San Francisco Bay Area sale and they never inform us about item\'s history or previous owners.Condition: looks like enamel was cracked in a few places, mostly on the back,closer to the neck in a petals shape, but not chipped.
Veryunusual and really very lice looking,I thought first about so interesting decoration and only after close inspection understood that these petal - shaped hairlines are signsof underglaze crackling, looking very smooth from outside, but in touch I feel very - very slight borders of these \"petals\".
On the rim of the opening Silver is oxidized and almost worn out...
