RARE 16\" STEIFF TEDDY BEAR c1908 - FF EAR BUTTON
Most antique Steiff collectors will agree that the early bears made prior to 1920 are the finest Steiff ever made. This sweet teddy that I am offering today is an example of early Steiff perfection with a GORGEOUS round face and an adorable expression, beautiful proportions with long limbs, big feet, and a prominent hump on his back.Made circa 1908, this bear is ALL-ORIGINAL–UNRESTORED / UNTOUCHED and in NEAR-MINT condition. Clearly, he is one of the few lucky bears that was cherished and preserved all of it\'s 100 plus years! He measures a good large 16\" tall from head to toe. He is 5-way jointed and all work smoothly. He has his original tiny nickel and iron Steiff FF ear button firm in his left ear and original features with shoe-button eyes and brown floss stitched nose and mouth. His nose stitching has faded so nicely from age. Teddy is strong and firmly stuffed with excelsior–so well that he can stand on his own without leaning on anything. This sweet bear is museum-quality with very minor condition issues. He is extremely clean and with no odors. He has minimal mohair loss around his snout, back of ears, slightly around back seam, but retains easily 99% of his clean, soft beige mohair. His pads are all original with just a few small pin-holes in left paw pad and both foot pads as seen in photos (the pad stuffing is firm and does not leak). He has his original four-claws on all paws and feet. He wears a cute pale blue cotton jumper with an embroidered \"B\" in front. It is a modern artist-made jumper modeled after the original \"Teddy B\" overalls from the turn of the century. Note: The horse pictured in the photos is not included, but will be offered for sale in another sale.This bear is a great investment piece and one to be enjoyed while he appreciates in value over the years. He is a show-stopper and I\'m pleased to be offering such a fine rare bear, but very sad to let him go because he\'s one of the sweetest I\'ve ever seen.
