Beautiful, rare, important, antique 1805 copperplate Arrowsmith & Lewis map, titled The World, printed at bottom is From Arrowsmiths Map of the World and Published by Thomas & Andrews. Fine period world map, much has changed, with Australia as New Holland, with undefined and unknown bottom portion, Hawaii as Sandwich Islands, United States at right hand side only, with huge New Mexico going up into what is now the United States and much more. Nicely detailed and attractive period map of this area at this time. The map is printed thick fine period handmade paper, with no printing on reverse. The map is in excellent condition and would frame and display quite nicely. The map is from the very rare and important American atlas, A New and Elegant Atlas Comprising All the Important Discoveries to the Present Time, by Aaron Arrowsmith and Samuel Lewis, published in 1805.
