Up for sale is an antique unused, un-punched and un-separated ERIE Railroad Company round-trip ticket from 1896. New York to Paterson, NJ and back. The ticket does show some obvious wear and markings.
Front left of ticket is the 1/2 way travel from NY to NJ, ticket # 1483. Front right of ticket is the reverse trip, also ticket # 1483. Ticket has a perforated middle but was not broken apart. Was not punched and more than likely was not collected / used.
Back of the ticket on each side is stamped and it reads \"ERIE DEC 20 1896 PATERSON NJ.\"
As to the origin of this item, it was found in the middle of a book published in 1907, possibly a bookmark or simply placed there by accident. The book was a part of a collection of vintage and antique books from the home of an antiques dealer who was in the business from 1950 through 2010.
