Presented here is anexquisiteold Royal Vienna plaque. This is a large size 14\" across with an octagon shape made as a wall hanging with an ornate brass frame and wood backing. This is a thick hard pasteporcelain. The border is has ornate gilt, jeweled scrolled designs on a plum-burgundybackground. The center is hand painted with Roman figures in ascenewith columns. Roman armor is in theforegroundwith a man and woman, a lady comforts an old man and two women are in the background with a dog and griffin. Vibrant colors. The plaque has much history and notes on the back; it was purchased in 1940 at Gump\'s, San Francisco for $850.00 as is. The plaque does have very old repair which is expertly done. This is done with old metal \"staples\" on the back, see photos. From the front you would not know, except for one area on the top border (see photo). Has not been glued or filled,interestingantique repair. Weighs 3.4 pounds alone. Has the old Royal Vienna mark on the back, according to Kovels Dictionary of Marks it dates 1750 to 1780. Spectacular piece!
