Old Vintage Mirroscope, Episcope Projector or Magic Lantern. 1912

The Mirroscope is an opaque projector also known as an episcope or magic lantern. There are 2 electric light bulbs on the inside, which lights the object to be projected. Usually a postcard, photo or coins.

The light is reflected through the lens, and the image is projected on a wall or screen. I plugged it in and it does light up. Uses standard light bulbs.

Size: 7 3/4 in. high, 9-3/4 in across front, 11 in. front to back including lens. Lens sticks out about 3 1/2 in. Cord is about 8 1/2 feet long.

This was well taken care of by my dad who bought it used when he was in high school. It is now over 100 years old and is showing its age. My dad was a professional artist but at 81 years old, he no longer needs his equipment.

A great vintage home décor piece.
