Up for the sale is abeautiful antique19th century Qi\'ing dynasty Chinese court lady\'s embroidered informalrobe.
On an emeralddamask silk material, finely woven with lotus scrolls,exquisitely embroidered in blue/ white color schemethreads using finest forofferden (Peking knot) stitches and gold- wrapped threads using couching technique.
The robe features embroidered and appliquedphoenix bird square on the front panel and dragon square (looking like a rank badge) on the back panel of the robe. Also appliqued flowers and flowers in vases (see pictures) worked in forofferden stitches and golden thread couching technique.
The robe has original heavy brass closures.
The off white silk sleeve bands, exquisitely embroidered in blue/ whitethreads using satin stitches,feature foliage;gourds and birds on the sleeve bandsand borders worked in couching technique using golden metallic (looks like gold- wrapped) threads.
has a cloud collar (see pictures).
Lined with a burgundydamask silk lining featuring floral design and bearing a paper provenance note, written ineligibly.
Extremely finely worked piece- just look at the pictures!
The jacketmeasures 38\" (96.5cm)long.
Condition:good/ fair antique condition overall, with some aigns of a very old age like staining and fading in spots; insignificant losses to the threads of the embroidery here and there; extensive tearing to the cloud collar (see pictures). Good otherwise.
