Antique Art Deco Pendant
I love this genuine Art Deco period piece -
It is stamped 935 indicating German manufacture as this was thestandard for silver in that country before the war.
Many of these pieces were produced in Pforzheim, an area of Germanythat was famous for Jewellery and had hundreds of factories.
Companies like Theodor Fahrner and Levinger & Bissinger whoproduced fantastic pieces that gave them export success all over Europe at theturn of the century and up to the second world war.
This particular piece is very much like the Fahrner marcasitepieces – very stylised with geometric step blocks and using a coloured polishedglass centre – in this case black.
The pendant is stamped 935 on the bail and there are Swedish ImportSilver marks at the base of the pendant.
The white metal chain is actually interesting – it looks to have anoriginal Roddi & Weinberger jump ring which is stamped with their logo andthe word Novoplatin – so I would say it is a period chain. The bolt ring isstamped sterling and this is probably a later addition chains.
The model in the picture is life-size so it will give you an ideaof the length when worn.
The size/length of the pendant is: 4.5cm (1 ¾”) including the balex 2cm (3/4”). The length of the chain is just under 16” end to end.
