It was recently pulled from a Southern NY estate and has the remains of it\'s original box and original key with ribbon.
The automaton is 20 inches long and 8 1/2 inches tall.
It is made of real Peacock feathers. There is a papier mache body that encompasses it\'s metal carriage and clockwork mechanism.
There are metal legs, hook shaped support, on-off switch and keyhole.
All the original mechanism is intact and appears to have never been fooled with.
There are feathers missing and some are quite fragile. Other than the feathers there is no damage to the automaton.
The movement is wound tight and I am sure it will need a good cleaning before it will operate.
The bird (once restored) will walk forward, turn it\'s head from side to side, fan it\'s tail feathers out to a width of 24 inches and then return to resting position.
