A very niceand early c. 1860\'s-1870\'s Czech / Bohemian hand blown crystal / cutglass perfume / scent bottle with hand cut faceted edges to catch thelight. Both the bottle as well as the matching original stopper are8-sided, and each vertical panel is further scored into 6 horizontalsegments, the middle one of which is larger than the others andpainted with a simple leaf and dot design in blue enamel. Thehorizontal wedges are further accented with gold banding. Due to thelead oxide content, the glass is heavy for its size. The glass hasbeen hand polished to achieve a good reflective quality and the pieceshimmers and glints in the light.
The bottle andstopper are original to each other, both visually and they also bothbear the identical number (“10”) painted on. Since each bottleis individually made and therefore there are very slight differencesfrom piece to piece, the glass workers would ensure that every bottlewas paired up with the stopper that was specifically created for itby marking both pieces so there would never be any wobbling.
The bottle is 4\" high with the stopper on. Individually, the bottle is 3\" tall and the stopper is 1-1/2\" tall.
The bottle isin very fine condition for its age. There are only a few teensy,really tiny, fleabites which you can\'t see at all, and you can\'t evenfeel them if you run your finger around the edges. You actually haveto look for them with a loupe. The stopper has 2 very small fleabiteson the dauber, and there is a flake off the underside of thedauber rim. Again, they are minor and you can\'t see them when thestopper is inside the bottle. The gold inside the wedge cuts isstrong and intact, but the painted gold lines at the bottle neck, rimand at the top of the stopper have a very small amount of loss, ifI\'m being picky. The top of the stopper has a round circle design ingold and to my eye, this appears slightly off center.
We should alllook so good at 150+ years old!
This is asweet little thing, and it would make a nice addition to your perfumebottle collection.
