This is a very nice Chinese Dao sword dating from the 19th century or possibly earlier. Total length is 33 inches.It has a strongly curved single-edged 28 inch blade with about 5 inches of double edge at the tip. The blade is hand forged and shows some lamination lines especially in the area closest to the handle.The handle is wood and the tang is \"peened\" in the typical way for Chinese antique swords. What is most special is the iron \"tsuba\". It\'s intricately made with cut-out designs not often seen on Chinese swords. A very interesting item for a Chinese sword collector.
