Description: A fine Chinese Yixing Zisha Teapot, artistically hand-made of Purple Sand pottery clay, from the town of Dingshu, in the southern Chinese province of Jiangsu, in East China. A high quality, thinly potted, unglaze red variety called \"zhuni\", extremely fine, yet intricately modeled in traditional Chinese taste, with distinctive style, exhibiting a creative spirit and brilliant Chinese artistry.
A delicately fashioned reddish-rust colour pot with a bulbous body, rounded shoulders tapering to a flat footrim with concaved base, stylized handle, arched lid ornamented with a ball finial, and fitted with appropiate ventilation airhole.
Inscriptions are observed at the base, with impressed hand-written character Script mark and makers mark. The pot was produced in Dingshu, at one of the small pottery shops along the west bank of Lake Tai, in the Jiangsu province, during the early Republic Period. The tea pot is presented in pristine condition as shown, with a natural shine and subsequent wiping, without chips, cracks, or repairs.
Note: Stoneware-like quality, with Porcelanious ring to it when struck. Very snug fitting lid with ventilation hole. Slightly absorbent pottery, highly regarded by tea lovers.Data Observation: Ming Dynasty mark, but probably early Republic Period.
