ANTIQUE CLICHY MINIATURE CONCENTRIC MILLEFIORI GLASS DOOR KNOB-PAPERWEIGHT IN CLEAR GROUND

Out for offer is this delicate miniature glass doorknob-paperweight dated from the Classic Period ( 1845 – 1860 ). A concentric glass doorknob-paperweight by the famous French factory of Clichy. The clear glass set with a ring of assorted brightly coloured millefiori composite canes in cobalt-blue, green, red, white and yellow about a nice central Clichy cabbage rose in green and pink; in clear ground. The glass knob is set into the original brass mount. The square brass shaft is present. Measuring approx. 1 1/8 in. ( 3 cm. ) in diameter by 2.5 in. ( 6 cm. ) in height including the brass fitting. In very good untouched antique condition showing only some very minor wear consistent with the age and use, as expected. Bearing the initials J D impressed underneath the brass fitting. A very fine, rare and colourful miniature glass doorknob-paperweight manufactured in France mid 19th Century, circa 1850s.
