Antique 19thc Engine Turned RoulettePatterned Black Basalt Sugar Box c1810 Possibly Davenport

Blackbasalt sugar box.

Standing 5 inches (12.5cms) high to the top of thefinial, and 3.75inches (9.5cms) to the top of the box itself, with a base 2.75inches (7cms) across.

Of fine quality, the basalt tight, dense andsmooth.

The body hasfine diamond rouletting pattern decoration on the shoulder and body.

The coverwhich is probably associated has engine turned chevron decoration with a verywell-articulated widow finial

The Sugar Boxis in very good condition with just a little wear.

The photosare part of the description so please assess carefully.

The SugarBox is unmarked but the quality would certainly suggest a leading pottery ofthe day possibly Davenport.
