Antique BlackBasalt Engine Turned Covered Milk Jug by Keeling Toft & C0 c1800

Thiscovered milk jug stands 5.5 inches to the top of the sibyl finial.

The ewer isdecorated with vertical satin stripes broken by a plain horizontal band.

The spout is leaf-moulded, the handle scrolled.

The basalt quality is 1st class being smooth,dense and silky.

Thecondition is not perfect i.e. the lid has a chip and the handle has been gluedback on

Although the jug has its drawbacks it is a verynice marked example of its type and would make an interesting addition to anycollection.
