ANTIQUE EARLY 20TH CENTURY AMERICAN PAIR LONG (47\") BENTWOOD WOODEN SNOWSHOESW/NATURAL GUT WEBBING, LEATHERTOEBINDINGS &STRAPS(Circa 1925-1938)(100% Original, \'as-found\' vintage condition)CONDITION:There are no breaks or splits in the steamed bentwood frames, repairs or reinforcing, applied material (wood or metal.) The wooden frames of both snoeshoes are intact and without significant loss, abrasions or flea-bites to their edges. At nearly 47\" in overall length, these early 20th c wooden snowshoes are in particularly well preserved overall condition. The original leather bindings are also intact and are still held to the frames by their original tied moorings. The leather is fantastically supple and doesn\'t suffer from appreciable or significant drying out or cracking, resulting in loss or fractures to the thick, cowhide leather toe bindings. The natural dried animal gut webbing, which suspends the snowshoes on the surface of the snow, is largely intact, with only a single episode of the gut pulling away from the inside edge of one shoe from slots in the frame. This is the only damage to these otherwise fantastic early 20th century bentwood snowshoes. They remain in nearly originally constituted overall vintage condition. Terrific.

CONDITION:Good to Very Good overall vintage condition. Complete, with all component parts, original animal gut webbing, leather toe, slide bindings, fasteners, steamed, bentwood, long wooden frames. There is literally no damage to this fantastic, early pair of long wooden snowshoes, except for three places on the top right of one shoe, where the gut cord has pulled away from the wooden frame. As far as any damage to the shoes, this constitutes all of it. It\'s not fatal and doesn\'t render them unusable and certainly doesn\'t diminish their appeal if they are used exclusively as wall decor. Just gorgeous early 20th century long wooden snoeshoes.
