Antique Solid Silver Pair Cased Fusee Pocket Watch

This wonderful antique pair cased pocket watch is encased inside two silver cases. They are both hallmarked for London 1847 by the Makers Josiah Barnett and William Waters. The movement is by Row of Alton no 23746.

This silver pair cased verge fusee pocket watch has an outer case diameter of 57mm.

The watch works well! And ticks very loudly, but only in an upright position. If the watch is moved then it may take a quick shake to get it going again. These old verge movements are usually not the best time-keepers, but this one keeps good time. The key comes with the watch, and it winds the mechanism perfectly, in fact when you wind it, you can see the chain wrapping perfectly around the cog. It runs for more than 24 hours.

The condition is good, for a pocket watch of such age, with some scratching around the case and just a few tiny dints but nothing major. The hinged parts shut fine and form a tight seal. The dial is in excellent condition and shows Roman numerals and a minute track. The glass front is good, with a few minor scratches which can be only be seen at close scrutiny.
